Our Fit Process

What is different at Front Running Sports than any other shoe store is that we actually fit you. We will actually measure your feet and watch you walk or run. Then, based on the activity you are looking at practicing with your new shoes, we will share what we believe are the best options for you. You will be in experts’ hands every step of the way.

What is a Gait Analysis?

Gait analysis is an assessment of the way the body moves when you are walking or running. The purpose of gait analysis is to understand your walking and running pattern and recommend the right footwear to support your GAIT.

How often do I need to be assessed?

It’s always a good idea to get your Gait checked before changing footwear or when you had a major change in your life that might affect your Gait. For example, an increase or decrease of physical activity, a change of activity practice, a weight gain or loss, an accident, an injury, etc.

Why it is important to know your GAIT before buying shoes?

If you need a supportive shoe and you actually wear a neutral shoe or vice versa, it might lead you to pain or injuries. Wearing the right shoe size is also primordial to avoid foot pains. Comfort is key, as well as support. Depending on your running and walking style, stability elements in a shoe may help control your movement for better performance and prevent pain or injuries.

What happens in the store?

We will start by discussing your current level of activities and footwear, understand any discomfort and/or injuries and set your goals. We will then measure your feet sizes (length and width). We will put you in a neutral shoe and watch you walk or run, depending what activity you intend to do with the shoes. This will allow us to analyze your landing, where you are landing and detect any misalignments (here we will talk about pronation).

If you’re comfortable on a treadmill, we will videotape you so we can then show you what we analyzed. Based on your GAIT, we will recommend what we think would be the best shoes for you. Then the fun begins… we will try your future walking/running shoes.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, we will do our best to accommodate your timing when visiting our store. We will let you know right away if there is any wait.

If you have some pain points while standing, walking or running an insert might help. The type of insert will be determined by your foot profile.

Some shoes have arch support. Our shoe fitting experts will be able to guide you to those shoes if needed.

Yes, but not in the washing machine, this will deteriorate the cushioning on your shoe and you will need to change shoes more often. Just use a brush and soap to wash your shoes.

We recommend wearing a blend of polyester socks and avoid cotton socks to avoid blisters or sliding within your shoes.
