About

Front Running Sports (FRS) opened its doors in 2007 with the mission of being the best resource for runners, walkers and triathletes who desire to be outfitted in the proper gear.

Our Mission

Outfit athletes in the proper gear to enable the most effective and injury-free training and racing.

Educate new enthusiasts on how the proper fitting of shoes, apparel and gear will help them succeed.

Create a non-threatening environment for customers to learn and grow in an active lifestyle.

How We Do It

We pride ourselves in our ability to evaluate and fit our customers in the proper shoes and apparel.

Here's what you can expect.

Evaluation

We are going to listen to your needs, analyze your walk, and assess your foot style before we recommend a specific type of shoe. Part of this evaluation is Video Analysis. Using video technology we are able to better analyze your foot mechanics thus providing a more accurate fit to minimize the risk of injury.

Fit

After the evaluation we will make sure the shoe fits properly using our expert knowledge and experience.

Function

Not all stability shoes are created equal anymore than people's feet are created equal. Therefore we will take the time to ensure that the shoe selected is functioning well for your foot design.

What Makes FRS Different?

We understand how intimidating it can be to visit a specialty retail store. Therefore the FRS staff gets excited about serving every level of athlete, from the first-time runner to the multisport enthusiast. Our desire is that every customer feels a part of the FRS Community when they leave our store.

Locally Owned

Front Running Sports is locally owned and operated by Brian NeSmith, a 4th generation Floridian. In 1995 while in graduate school Brian entered his first triathlon. Although he trained (poorly) and raced to a slow finish, Brian fell in love with the experience. After completing a Master's Degree in Physical Education and Sports Management, Brian entered the field of race event management working with such events as Disney Marathon, Boston Marathon, and the Gasparilla Distance Classic. He also spent time working with one of the top running specialty stores in the country. Over the years Brian has completed numerous 5k and 10k races, and competed at every level of triathlon including the Ironman.
